Take a break from campus and studies to enjoy nature, learn about American culture, and meet friends!

Lake of the Woods in Mahomet, IL
(about 15 minutes from campus)

We take an annual trip out to the Lake of the Woods to enjoy nature and spending time together! We will be playing Frisbee, volleyball, football, and hanging out with friends.  If you have a favorite outdoor game feel free to bring it along!  It is a beautiful spot to relax from classes and to get to see some of Illinois outside of campus.  There will be snacks provided but please eat lunch before you come! In addition, many of us will go to dinner afterward and we are planning on going to Golden Harbor on Neil and Springfield.  If you plan on joining us for dinner please bring cash to pay for dinner.

Visiting the Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur, IL
(about an hour from campus)

Each fall we take a trip to the Great Pumpkin Patch. Enjoy displays of colorful pumpkins of various sizes and shapes. You can also see some farm animals, taste pumpkin ice cream and other delicious treats from a bakery. Must bring your camera!!

Ski Trip

Enjoy a day of skiing or snowboarding! We have taken a ski the past couple years and it has been lots of fun.

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, IL
(about an hour from campus)

In the past we’ve taken a trip to see the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL, which is the Illinois state capitol. It is a great place to learn about the history of the United States and one its great presidents.
